Breast Augmentation
So you've had it with men passing you by, of dresses that don't fit, and of bikini tops that just won't stay in place. You're intrigued by the possibility of getting implants or some other form of breast augmentation, but first you just want to know what your options are.
How Do Breast Implants Work?
Depending on the preferences of you and your surgeon, and implant breast augmentation can be performed under either local or general anesthesia. Once the anesthesia has been administered, the surgeon will make incisions under the breasts large enough for the desired size and shape of implant. The surgery generally takes between 4 to 4 hours, and medications are administered throughout to keep the patient comfortable. After the implants have been inserted and the incisions closed, the patient is taken into a recovery area and closely monitored. The breast area is tightly wrapped in gauze dressings or a surgical bra. The surgical wrap will be removed a few days later. Most breast augmentation patients are permitted to go home after a few hours and the recovery period will take about a week.

Saline Implants
This is the most common kind of implant. They are made of a thin silicone shell filled with a saline solution, which replicates the fluids already found in the human body. They are generally considered safer than silicone implants because in the event of a rupture, the fluid is easily absorbed and naturally disposed of by the body.
Silicone Implants
Depending on your circumstances, you may have the option to get silicone implants. These are much the same as the saline ones, except the shell is filled with a silicone gel instead of saltwater. Some people prefer these because the gel more closely resembles actual breast tissue, resulting in a more natural feel.
What About A Breast Lift?
Some women chose to combine their implant surgery with a breast lift, which lifts and tightens the breast for better shape and firmness. Factors such as weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and ultimately even age frequently cause a loss of skin elasticity in women, which in turn leads to drooping or saggy breasts. In this case, implants alone won't solve the problem, as their shape will look unnatural in the body and the patient will probably still not be satisfied with her appearance.
Fat Transfer
A fat transfer is two distinct surgical procedures performed on a single day. The first procedure performed is a liposuction, in which the surgeon uses a hollow tube called a cannula to vacuum out unwanted fat from the target area that the patient and doctor have decided on beforehand. This target area is a place where there is an excess of unsightly fat, such as the thighs, buttocks, or abdomen. The second procedure is the breast augmentation, in which the fat is re-inserted into the breasts.
Which Form Of Breast Augmentation Is Right For Me?
The answer to this question depends largely on you--the specific shape and composition of your body, and what results you want to achieve. Spend some time imagining yourself in your dream body, so you have a clear picture of what you want in your head. Then, if you're ready to take the next step, call around to some of the plastic surgery clinics in your area and ask if they offer free consultations. If they do, sign yourself up for a couple and talk to the doctors face to face. Trained cosmetic surgeons are your best source of information about each form of surgery and how well it would work for you personally. They can help you understand your options for the surgery, work with you on financing, and show you the next step toward making your dream a reality.
How Can I Make Sure My Breast Augmentation Turns Out Well?

Preparation is a big key to getting the best possible result from your breast augmentation. Physically, you want to be in the best health you can be, so your body can heal quickly and smoothly from the surgery. Talk with your surgeon beforehand about what medications you can and can't take as you prepare, and also what recommendations he has for you by way of diet and exercise. You're investing a lot of money in your appearance; if you're willing to invest a little time and effort too you'll be happier with the results.
Having realistic expectations is also important. Breast augmentations can do wonders for your looks, but they aren't magic. Take some time to look at before and after photos and familiarize yourself with what breast augmentations can--and can't--do.
Almost even more important than these considerations, though, you want to make absolutely sure the person who will be performing your surgery is well qualified, and consistently produces good results. No matter how fit your body is or how well prepared you are mentally, a substandard surgeon can produce poor results.
